blurryface is such a good album and while tyler is great let’s not let his comments about rappers and rap music slide by so easily without thought…. like…trying to say Drake lyrics are “zombie thoughtless music” is so fucking pretentious… rap music doesn’t have to be fakedeep and introspective for it to be good!!! looking down on rappers is so offensive and him casually using AAVE makes me so uncomfortable holy shit… none of this is excusable and while im not saying he’s being viciously racist or anything i am saying he has some antiblackness he needs to control. for someone who doesn’t claim to be a rapper he’s spending a lot of time reappropriating rap and trying to criticize the genre…🔍👀

What “antiblackness”?

the anti blackness that possesses him to think that rap music isn’t intellectual basically calling it stupid and vapid, the anti blackness that made him say “im not from da hood” in lane boy, he’s literally mocking it now it seems and the anti blackness that makes him insist he’s not a rapper but then he goes and tries to criticize actual rappers….like…if you’re too good to be a rapper why are you trying to come for a genre you’re not trying to be apart of?
these are all minor incidents and im not saying he’s racist most white people (and nonblack poc) are anti black and have no idea
im saying we need to not ignore this or just brush it off because we like him
